Thomas Sinclair of Gosford, married Mirabelle, daughter of John Dalrymple, burgess of Edinburgh, with whom he acquired the lands of Gosford and in which they were confirmed jointly by charter under the Great Seal on 28 January 1458-59.[1] He was dead by 28 March 1474[2] and was succeeded by,
John Sinclair of Gosford, who was, in all likelihood, the son and heir of the former. He was one of the witnesses to the infeftment of John Sinclair of Herdmanston in the lands of Templefield as heir to his late father, William Sinclair of Herdmanston, on 16 July 1492.[3]
John Sinclair of Gosford, succeeded and had Sasine for the lands of Gosford in 1506.[4] He was father of,
- Alexander Sinclair of Gosford, (see below).
- William Sinclair,
- Isobel Sinclair, married firstly, to John Hepburn of Fortoun and secondly, to Francis Borthwick of Ballincrieff, (marriage contract 17 December 1549[5]).
Alexander Sinclair of Gosford, succeeded his father and was infeft in the lands of Gosford as heir to him upon precept dated 3February 1550-51.[6] He died before May 1552 and was father of,
James Sinclair of Gosford, succeeded his father and was infeft in the lands of Gosford as heir to him upon chancery precept dated 9 May 1552.[7] He sold his lands of Gosford with the mill, tower, fortalice, gardens, orchards etc., to Alexander Acheson in October 1561.[8]
